Learn About Tweezers!

I made a new video, “38 Pairs of Tweezers”. It’s about tweezers. And while you’re at it you can subscribe to my YouTube video…if you don’t ask, right?

Check out the workshops over at These Hands Collective. Denise has been super cool about putting together fun craft activities during these trying times. Check out her schedule of online classes and whether she’s got some in person classes scheduled as well. You can always pick up a kit or gift card this holiday season.

It's May - What are you Going to Make?

So we’re all stuck inside and looking for something interesting to do. Maybe a new craft. Maybe try a new recipe. I know quite a few of you are baking. I had my phase…then the extra pounds came. I’m not baking as much. So back to crafting and making stuff. Check out YouTube for videos (I have a channel. Shameless self promotion, The Glass Studio. Subscribe) and other video channels for lessons on just about anything. Below you’ll see a video on cutting glass from Bullseye Glass. You might also want to wander around the web and look for online classes. Some places around town that can’t have in person classes are doing Zoom classes. Try These Hands Collective in Venice and see what they’re offering.

New E-Book! Lace & Yarn - Learn About Glass Fusing Techniques

This is the newest e-book by glass genius, Paul Tarlow. Paul used to own and operate Helios Art Glass in Austin, TX. He hosts the most informative glass web site, fusedglass.org, and like I said, he’s a glass genius. If you like glass check him out.

Welcome to Maker News!

Howdy Stay at Homers! Welcome to the crafty side of LA Art News. Back when LA Art News was a print newspaper, I had the bright idea to start a beautiful, quarterly magazine called Maker News. Of course reality smacked me upside the head and that never happened. Well, here we are now. Maker News is being brought to life within the world of LA Art News. This is where we can have some maker fun. Craft projects, field trips (from a distance for now), and other creative pursuits is what will live here. So…being that my brain spends a bit of time focused on glass, that’s where I’ll start.

If you have something to submit, send it to me, whether it be a craft project, a video, or an event, at the info below.

Here’s a quick tip from Bullseye Glass, one of our sponsors.

The New Bullseye Glass TechBook, Available Now

For your convenience, our TechBook compiles the core of our educational articles as of 2019—including TechNotes, TipSheets, Quick Tips, and Product Use information. If there’s a better single tool for becoming a more polished kilnformer, we don’t know about it!

Looking for online classes that are live? Check out These Hands Collective in Venice, CA. Denise has a wide variety of cool classes when life isn’t weird like it is right now.
