June - Summertime is Upon Us!

The days are longer, and warmer. I love this time of year. I just wish it would happen already. I just want to see the world reaction. Maybe on his birthday. We can only hope. Are you making protest art? Are you going out to see art? I saw the new Yoko Ono show at the Broad last night. I don’t review shows, not my thing, but I will say when I like something. Go see it. And you can check out the suggestions listed below.

While you’re here you can also check out Poet’s Place, hosted by Linda Kaye. She brings us fresh poetry every month. Let her know if you have some poetry you want to share.

CYPHER OF THE SELF
A Solo Exhibition by Ricardo Rodriguez-Long

LOS ANGELES ARTIST RICARDO RODRIGUEZ-LONG OPENS
CYPHER OF THE SELF AT XORXA GALLERY, LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, CA - June 1, 2026 - XORXA Gallery is proud to present Cypher of the Self: The Calculated Dream, a solo exhibition of 12 new paintings by Los Angeles-based surrealist artist Ricardo Rodriguez-Long. The opening reception is free and open to the public on Saturday, June 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM. The exhibition runs through June 26, with private viewings available by appointment.

Cypher of the Self is an exploration of the invisible numbers that make up who we are - the combination of atoms, cells, and vibrations at certain frequencies that define individual human identity. Hidden within each work are visual and conceptual clues that invite the viewer to think, to dream, and to find their own reflection in the composition. The paintings do not simply ask to be looked at. They ask to be decoded.

“There is a numerical architecture beneath everything we are” says Ricardo. “The universe
keeps a record of us in frequencies and patterns we can feel but rarely see. These twelve
paintings are my attempt to make that record visible - or at least, to make you feel the edge of it.”
