It’s that time again. PST, formally known as Pacific Standard Time, is back and this time around it’s Art and Science for their theme. How exciting is that? PST ART: Art & Science Collide is the third Getty initiative under the PST program. Art museums and galleries all over Southern California are participating on this project in collaboration with a variety of science centers, such as JPL. I’ll do my best to list shows, but go to the PST website.art/en/ to learn everything you need to know about this exciting experience. I’m going to the Hammer tomorrow. I’ll post pictures.
Do go over to Poet’s Place and check out what Linda Kaye and her pack of poets have to offer you this month. PST isn’t the only thing, but then again, it almost is. Check out some art suggestions for you.

Save the Date: "Blended Worlds: Experiments In Interplanetary Imagination," will open at the Brand Library & Art Center on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with an Opening Reception from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
“Blended Worlds” is an exhibition that brings together the creativity of 11 visionary artists and the cutting-edge discoveries of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) scientists and engineers. This exhibition is proudly part of Getty's regional art event, PST ART: Art & Science Collide and promises to immerse you in the dynamic intersection of human creativity and scientific exploration.

This exhibition features a range of cross-disciplinary works that invite you to consider the impact of a deeper connection with nature and its ability to renew our sense of wonder and curiosity about the cosmos. Some works on view incorporate publicly accessible data from missions that JPL
manages for NASA, while others allow visitors to experience Earth’s wonders through scents, use sound to convey the vast distances between our planet and those beyond our solar system, and blend heartbeats and other Earthly sounds with sonified data from Europa’s magnetic field.
Featured Artists Include:
David Bowen, Darel Carey, Ekene Ijeoma, Annette Lee, Ada Limón, Bruce Mau, Viktoria Modesta, Shane Myrbeck, Moon Ribas, Raffi Joe Wartanian and Saskia Wilson-Brown.
Join us as we delve into the wonders of interplanetary imagination, exploring how art and science together can inspire new ways of seeing and understanding our world—and the universe beyond!
“Blended Worlds” was developed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, an operating division of Caltech and a Federally Funded Research and Development Center for NASA, in collaboration with the City of Glendale.
Southern California’s landmark arts event, PST ART, returns in September 2024, presenting more than 70 exhibitions from organizations across the Southern California region exploring the intersections of art and science, both past and present.
